This policy explains what information TuringLinks collects and how it is used. We keep data collection to a minimum: you do not need an account to browse or submit links.
Information we collect
- Submitted links. When you submit a URL, we store the URL and the metadata we generate from it (title, summary, category, tags, preview image, and related page details). Do not submit private or sensitive URLs.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our host may automatically record standard request data such as IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamp. These are used for security and to keep the service running.
- No accounts. We do not create user profiles, and we do not ask for your name, email, or password to use the site.
Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your light/dark theme preference is stored in your browser's local storage on your device and is never sent to us. A temporary session may be used to enforce the cooldown between link submissions.
Third-party services
To generate descriptions and run the site, content may be sent to or loaded from third parties, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google Gemini API — the text and metadata of submitted pages are sent to Google's Generative Language API so that titles, summaries, tags, and embeddings can be generated.
- Google Fonts — used to load the site's typeface.
- Favicon, thumbnail, and web-archive services — used to display site icons, preview images, and archived copies of linked pages.
How information is used
- To build and display the public directory of links.
- To generate and improve AI descriptions and related-link suggestions.
- To operate, secure, and maintain the service.
We do not sell your personal information.
Your choices
To request removal of a link you own, or to ask a question about this policy, use our contact form. You can clear the theme preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
